The Laboratory

Quantum Communication and Sensing Applications Laboratory

The project QCS AppLab aims to establish a Joint Lab dedicated to applications into quantic communication and quantum sensing.  This Joint Lab brings together scientific, technological and corporate expertise to drive the Evolution from fundamental laboratory research to practical applications, facilitating the transition from technology to the market implementation.

Communication technologies and quantum sensing represent some of the most promising frontiers in quantum physics and offer great potential to improve everyday life. Although several commercial products are already on the market, the widespread adoption of quantum sensing and quantum communication is still limited by significant challenges, such as interoperability, the scarcity of concrete commercial applications, and the high costs of access and use.

The QCS AppLab is part of the main project NQSTI (PE023 PRRN) and plays a crucial and strategic role in the development of quantum technology in Italy and Europe. The collaboration between research institutions and companies represents a new virtuous model to support fundamental skills in innovation, envisioning, and creating cutting-edge solutions. This laboratory is a key initiative to transform the potential of quantum physics into concrete and accessible solutions, with the aim of making Italy a leading player in the global quantum revolution.

Goals (objectives)

Establish an integrated quantum ecosystem within the Joint Lab.
Design and implement innovative applications of quantum communication and quantum sensing.
Promote the dissemination and valorization of the quantic ecosystem.
